Education starts as early as in creches and kindergartens.

Hameln offers roughly 1,600 kindergarten places. Every child between three and six years of age will find a kindergarten place in Hameln. There are three kindergartens run by the local government, and about eleven more run by providers like churches, the German Red Cross and others.

As far as schools are concerned Hameln offers 3 grammar schools, 3 technical colleges, 3 middle schools, 3 primary and secondary schools, 12 primary schools, and 2 special needs schools.

Above that there is for example an adult education centre and a municipal music school. Of course apart from institutions run by the local government there a quite a few education facilities of private providers.

Of big importance is the Berufsakademie Weserbergland (university of cooperative education) which offers two different bachelor degrees.
