The beautifully restored old town centre with its historical buildings and its medieval charm is an attractive shopping area with a large variety of goods offered in a special ambience.

In 2006 a big shopping mall opened right in the middle of the old part of town. With its 90 shops and some 17,500 m² of retail space it has made the old part of town as a whole even more attractive than before: it now offers some 56,000 m² of sales area .

In central Hameln - close to the railway station - a shopping mall in an industrial monument of the "Nord-West-Deutsche Hefe- und Spritwerke AG" company, was opened in the year 2000.

Hameln also offers attractive shopping possibilities outside of the old part of town. The concentration of retail units at the "green meadow" is situated in Klein Berkel (areas multi-market and Böcklerstraße).
