Via Federal roads or railroad you can reach one of the European traffic and transport centres, the city of Hanover, about 50 km away.
Hanover, the state capital of Lower Saxony, has an excellent geographical situation in respect of traffic and transport connections. Contributing to the excellent infrastructure are the motorways A 2 from east to west (Ruhrgebiet - Hanover - Berlin) and A 7 from north to south (Hamburg - Hanover - Kassel), as well as the international Hanover Airport, Hanover's central railway station with its Inter-City-Express connections, and the east-west Mittelland Canal.
Hameln is at the intersection of the Federal roads B 1, B 83 and B 217. The network of Federal roads spanning out from the centre of the town of Hameln has a close network of main and rural roads.
The distances to the next motorway entrances are about 20 km (A 2 = east to west: Ruhrgebiet - Hanover - Berlin) and about 45 km (A 7 = north to south: Hamburg - Hanover - Kassel).
There are interregional railway connections to the railway lines Hanover - Hameln - Paderborn and Braunschweig - Hildesheim - Hameln - Löhne - Bielefeld.
Hanover´s international airport in Langenhagen is about 65 km from Hameln. Since 2000 Hameln is connected to the suburban railway of Hanover. This railway connection (S 5) offers the possibility to reach the international airport directly from Hameln via Hannover.
