The public library has been located inside the former "Pfortmühle" (mill, built in 1894) since 1990. The former grain mill is situated in the centre of Hameln, on the bank of the river Weser.

Opening hours:

Tuesday, Thursday and Friday:	noon til 6.00 am
Wednesday:	10.00 am til 4.00 pm
Saturday:	10.00 am til 1.00 pm

The library offers:

some 100,000 books, magazines, newspapers, CDs, MCs, videos, CD-ROMs, pictures, books for children, games, a coffeeshop and an art gallery.
