Under the slogan "What is good for children, is also good for adults", the municipal authorities developed a project with approx. 200 housing units being situated on a southern hillside 2.5 km away from the historical town centre of Hameln.
This suburban residential area shall be a model for future town development and planning projects in terms of social and ecological qualities.
It demonstrates solutions for:
- Living area being suitable for families and children
- Energy-saving building according to low-energy building standards
- Low-pollution power supply
- Ecological settlement planning
- Cost- and surface-saving building and
- Architecture adapted to the landscape.
A special feature of the project "Rotenberg-Ost" in Hameln is the combination of all above quality targets. It shows ways for future-oriented town planning in a rural region with small communities.
The ecological standards of the project are in accordance with the objectives of the Agenda 21, which was a main theme of the EXPO 2000.
