Public Forest

Enjoy a diversified forest!
With 1,300 hectares, our Hameln Forest is not only one of the biggest municipal forest departments in Lower Saxony, but relative to the state, it offers more woodland!
(Hameln 29 %, Lower Saxony only 21 %).

You will find recreation
Our forest invites you with a network of paths for walking, hiking, jogging and biking.
The hilly landscape offers interesting paths and fine panoramic views.
Highly attractive is the blossoming of the snowflakes at Schweineberg in February and March.
The natural protection area "Schweineberg" (170 hectares) probably has the biggest area of snowflakes in northern Germany: 1.5 kilometres in length and 100 to 200 meters wide on a hillside, the ground is nearly covered with snowflakes.

The third restaurant in our forest, the "Heisenküche", is situated close to another information path.
