The Hameln Marketing und Tourismus GmbH (HMT) was founded on the 1st of June 1997 by the partners (Stadt Hameln 50%, Stadtmarketing and Verkehrsverein Hameln e.V. 50%). Until then, the Verkehrsverein Hameln e.V. (founded 1914, some 300 members today) was singularly responsible for the touristic support and activities of the city. In the wake of the incorperation, many of the tasks of the Verkehrsverein were passed on to the HMT. Additionally, „City Marketing“ and the markting of the convention halls - Weserbergland-Zentrum and Rattenfänger-Halle.
