The Weser Mountains Region is a land of discovery. Not only will you find peaceful surroundings to put your soul at ease, but also attractive leisure opportunities. Beautifully restored half-timber cities in a landscape of rolling hills divided by the ever present river offer diversity for the vacationer.
image comment: River CurveA network of well signed hiking and biking paths surround Hameln and lead to areas of natural beauty along the Weser. Favorite goals for the hikers are the Suentelturm and the Hohenstein Cliffs near Hessisch Oldendorf.

Bicycle Path on the Weser. It crosses Hameln on its 450 km route from Hannoversch Münden to the North Sea and is toured by some 150.000 each year. According to the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC), the "Weser-Radweg" is the most traveled German cycle tour.
image comment: Hämelschenburg CastleA highlight in the Weser Mountains Region is the
Hämelschenburg Castle near Hamelns. Built in 1588 as a moated castle in Weser Renaissance style, it is regarded as one of the most beautiful in Northern Germany.
Older and equally admired is the
Stift Fischbeck a cloister in Hessisch Oldendorf with a famous wall tapestry from 1583. The Stift is able to be visited by tour daily from April to Oktober (except Mondays).
Other points to be seen in "Weserbergland" are the
Bad Pyrmont Spa with its famous park and palm tree garden (the largest north of the alps!), as well as
Münchhausenstadt Bodenwerder, Rinteln, Bueckeburg und Holzminden.
Some 60 km south of Hameln is the town of Fürstenberg with one of the oldest porcellan manufactures in Europe within a beautiful Weser Renaissance Castle. The Museums shows over 250 years of factory history and production. Not far away, on the other bank of the river, is the medevial Corvey Castle and Cloister.
The
Weserbergland is famous for its myths and fairy tales of which the Pied Piper Legend is just the best known.
